“ The best Chinese food I've had in a long time! I usually go to San Gabriel or Alhambra for authentic Chinese food - there aren't a lot of great places on this side of town. But Palace is so authentic and delicious and has food I can't find anywhere else - like the best Fish Maw soup I've ever had! We also had the Peking Duck and Fried fish with spicy salt and they tasted just like the food I had growing up. Could not recommend more. The servers were kind and fast. People who have issues with the service here obviously haven't been to any authentic Chinese restaurants. This isn't going to be like Beverly Hills, people. If you want delicious amazing food and aren't an entitled customer then this is the place for you. ”

“ I ordered shumai here from UberEats and it's a solid option for West LA. The price is a bit steep at $9 for four shumai, but the shumai are succulent, flavorful, and decently portioned. I would love to try the other dim sum here in the future to see how they hold up. This could be a great option if you don't want to drive all the way to the 626 on a weekday! ”

“ Came here for Christmas dinner with the family! We were happy to find something open and they were definitely super super busy when we went. The dimsum here was pretty good, albeit definitely on the pricier side. We also had an order of the crispy duck which my hubby and my uncle loved. Duck skin was perfectly crispy and the mantou that came with it was delicious too! The normal roast duck was a little too tough for us though. Food came at a good timing, and the ambiance was just like any other Chinese restaurant. Not sure if we'd be back, as there wasn't anything crazy good BUT it did make for a good hearty meal. ”

“ My dad -the foodie. Who always dragged us as kids to Chinatown to eat Chinese food ( we were bored and had little appreciation of thist) This is my dad's favorite Chinese restaurant. A hidden treasure. My boyfriend asked my dad how long he's been eating there and my dad said he's been going there for 15 years - a couple of different owners, but the quality of the food has always stayed the same. We went to dinner last night. I didn't have the heart to tell him, but I had gone earlier that morning lol to get dim sum. Yeah, my dad goes there all the time. He said he took about 9 people for a class he was teaching there earlier the week. We've had countless big gatherings there over the years. There are two private rooms that can be made to a big private room. I think one family dinner was for about 40 people. The food is amazing, I'll get to that in a sec. Wanted to mention the service is awesome. I don't mean it as a slight, but if I have to describe the service I would say they are efficient and quick. When other restaurant stops to chat and talk. Not here. Quick to see things like - four of us order wine - "Get a bottle" Gary instructs. Last night he asked how many were joining us. One more and a child we say. He tells us we've ordered enough. lol .... So my go to is the dim sum. I love the har gow and shui mai. That's the shrimp and pork dumplings. There is a rice shrimp roll that is very good. Egg rolls great. My boyfriend's favorite is the spicy fried calamari - it is fried (everything fried is gotta be good!) has jalapeño, green onion. It was SO good, we ordered it twice yesterday. It is actually is "squid w/ spicy salt" on the menu. I can sell it to my caucasian boyfriend better if I call it "spicy fried calamari." I also like their soups - their fish maw with crab meat soup is wonderful. I also love their chicken and shrimp with pine nuts lettuce cups. I couldn't also order those dishes because as I said Gary told us we had already ordered too much. When I go with my dad, it is a feast. We got the Peking duck, lobster, the Westlake Minced Beef soup (for my niece the pan fried pot stickers and low mein), for my boyfriend the Squid w/ spicy salt, and my and my dad's two favorite vegetables - the dow mai with garlic, and the green beans. I'm not sure if the dow mui - which is Snow peas with garlic is on the menu, but you can ask for it. It's like spinach, but the taste I think is more mild. My boyfriend who generally hates anything green thought it was very good. We didn't get it this time because my niece wanted the low mein, but I usually beg for and get the beef chow fun. Chow fun is a large flat rice noodle. It my favorite and so amazing here. We were too stuffed for desserts, but Gary brought us a bunch anyway. A very good almond pudding, and mango pudding. He also gave us some fried something but I didn't get to test that because my sister hogged it. I will add some pictures later. I realized after eating several dishes that I forgot to take pictures. Oops. ”

“ I've lived near this place for over a decade, and to be honest, the low reviews scared me away. I always figured I don't mind making a drive to eat good dim sum or just Chinese food. But my husband tried it with a friend and told me he was really pleasantly surprised with how good he thought it was. Yes, you're paying westside prices. I'm sure there are better spots out there, but for a neighborhood restaurant that has been around for a very long time, it's pretty good. I'm just sad I discovered it so late. It never seems that busy, but I think they do the most business maybe for dim sum times and deliveries. I love their shrimp with lobster sauce and winter melon soup. The service is always great, not overbearingly attentive, but just the right amount. There's valet parking in the lot, but I typically just walk over. ”

“ Got to visit this restaurant back in June 3rd ... dimsum was the best , we got the usual hargow , shrimp shumai, pork shumai, and for the adventurous chicken feet. I'm not sure what else my friend got but everything was delicious. Service was very attentive. There's limited parking but maybe because we got there during lunch rush on a Thursday. Other things I noticed that made my experience awesome was the restaurant and ladies restroom was clean, location is very easy to find. Highly recommend this restaurant for dimsum! ”

“ DIM SUM & THEN SOME My Mahjong teacher and her husband took our class here for lunch one Thursday, and we practically had the place to ourselves. Since they come here regularly, and they wanted us to try different things, they ordered at least 30 dishes. Plus, we tried three different teas - the typical jasmine, the chrysanthemum, and another strong, unusual one ($1.98 each). Our hosts ordered in Cantonese, and service seemed fast and relatively attentive. They didn't have carts, but the food was served in cute little dishes and pans. 10 of us sat around a table with a lazy Susan in the middle, so it was easy to pass the numerous dishes. I loved the Baked BBQ Pork Buns ($7.95 for 3 little buns), the huge Chicken Potstickers ($7.95 for 3), and the Pork & Shrimp Shu Mai ($7.95 for 4). The Sticky Rice Shrimp Balls ($7.95 for 4), the Beef Balls ($7.95 for 3) and the Shrimp Har Gow ($7.95 for 4) were okay. I also tried the Beef Tripe ($7.95 for a pile of it), which really isn't my thing. Skipped the chicken feet, which my teacher loves, even though it is supposed to be a good source of collagen. I tried a few other things that weren't for me. The Stuffed Bell Pepper with Shrimp Paste ($8.95 for 3) made a tasty leftover. For veggies, I ate some Chinese Broccoli with Oyster Sauce ($14.95). I never order dessert at a Chinese restaurant, but I am glad they did. The Egg Custard ($7.95 for 3) was sweet and delicious, and the Baked Custard Buns were phenomenal ($7.95 for 3). We over ordered, so we all had plenty of goodies to take home. Mine tasted just as good, if not better, when I reheated them later. After this fun meal, I was glad I had found street parking a block away so that I could take a walk. Summing it up, I'll be back! ”

“ I'm originally from the Bay Area so anytime I come across good Asian food here I really appreciate it. I stopped in at lunch because I was craving dim sum and my craving was more than satisfied. The service was wonderful and everyone was very friendly. I thought the decor inside was pretty cool too. I ordered a few different dishes and also custard buns for dessert. I was stuffed! But man am I glad I live about 7 min away. Looking forward to the next time I need a dim sum fix. ”
